International Literacy Day

8 September 2016 is the 50th anniversary of International Literacy Day. Since the first definition of literacy as the ability to read and write, the meaning has evolved. Now the concept of literacy encompasses a continuum of skills essential for modern life. For girls and women to participate in all aspects of society,understand their rights and enjoy economic empowerment, access to digital devices and digital literacy is crucial.
