CSW69 Parallel Events

GWI Will Host Three Parallel Events during CSW69

Education: Only Way to Solve Old and Modern Antifeminisms. 12 March 2025, 12:30 – 2:00 pm Eastern Standard Time, Drew Room, Church Center for the United Nations, 777 United Nations Plaza, New York, NY 10017
Antifeminisms are ideologies, beliefs, and movements that oppose women’s rights all over the world. They represent a cultural structure within many countries to differing degrees. The practice of girl marriage shows how antifeminist attitudes can lead to the oppression and marginalization of girls and women. From our two videod interviews each telling their own story of being a child bride we learn how such women have to prioritise domestic work and childcare over education and career ambitions. This will fuel a discussion on educational strategies for making a difference to influence related sociopolitical structures such as culture religion, and poverty. We look forward to seeing you there in person!

Women in Power and Leadership Accelerating Advancement Towards Gender Equity. 20 March 2025, 12:30 – 2:00 pm Eastern Standard Time (Virtual)

Despite progress, women remain under-represented in leadership roles across all sectors: politics, business, government, and international organizations. Women leaders bring diverse perspectives and drive inclusive, foster innovation and sustainable policies, yet embedded barriers hinder their access to pivotal roles of decision-making and power nor reach mass representation.

To ensure Women’s leadership is the norm, not an exception, we must analyze intersectional factors shaping public perceptions and address systemic obstacles. We can promote equitable leadership and build a gender-responsive future by dismantling exclusionary barriers and advocating for policy reforms. GWI Advocacy is developing the “ GWI Advocacy Without Borders Initiative” to address region-specific and global issues impacting women. Join us to establish pathways for women’s inclusive, equitable leadership. . Register in advance for this meeting: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZYsde-hqD8uGdJsDslnKBLNIXLx7UIgFtTK
