Fellowship Application

(See the Instructions to Candidates for a list of elements that could be covered in your abstract but note that this section must explain how you see your proposal as relevant to GWI’s mission policy. Your abstract must not exceed 2500 characters (approximately 500 words). Please use only the space provided in the box above.)

Note: that travel expenses up to 2000 CHF are allowed if, and only if, your proposal requires you to travel away from the university at which you are enrolled for purposes such as fieldwork, archival research or special training. You may not claim travel expenses for travelling between your country of normal residence and the university in which you are enrolled.

Note: Include salary, personal funds and any other fellowships/scholarships/grants you have already been awarded toward this proposal.

Note: If successful, you must notify GWI immediately.

Note: You may be required to provide hard copy of these.

Note: Include title/nature of the position, name and address of employing institution, and dates of employment.

Write a brief paragraph of no more than 250 words (1250 characters maximum) explaining your reasons and giving any further information about yourself that you consider relevant. You might include one or more of the following points: how this project will further your own career and where you see yourself in ten years’ time; contribute to your home country or the international community, be of value to a specific sector of the population; advance knowledge in or be applicable to your disciplinary field.

Note: You are responsible for sending your references the Guidelines for Referees, obtaining their consent to act and asking them to send references direct to fellowships2022@gwi.graduatewomen.org. One referee should be your principal academic supervisor for the six months immediately preceding submission of the application.

We would appreciate it if you would provide below a summary of no more than 400 words of your academic and professional background, along with a short description of the research/study/training for which you are seeking a GWI award. This information will be used in GWI’s newsletter and website and will also be made available for use in press releases by your national federation or association if you should be chosen to receive one of GWI’s 2022 fellowships and grants. The description should be interesting and use terms easily understood by the general public. We will also require a photo that we can use.
