Promotion of Adult Literacy Courses for Women
Nepal Association of University Women
Members of the Nepal Association of University Women (NAUW) provided basic literacy and numeracy courses for 25 women in a small rural settlement with high unemployment and low levels of literacy. Training in potato chip making, baking and mushroom cultivation was also given to help the women find additional sources of employment and income. Other benefits from this action included training the women in small business development, and providing awareness programmes on family planning, reproductive health, legal, civic and human rights. The training programme took place over a six month period between March and August 2010.
