The GWI project in Uganda, ‘Teachers for Rural Futures’, addresses one of the major barriers to girls’ education in the country- a lack of women teachers at secondary level. In partnership with the Ugandan Association of University Women (UAUW), GWI is sponsoring girls from rural areas to train as qualified secondary teachers. Once qualified as teachers, as independent, salaried women working in the community, these girls will be ideally placed as role models to encourage young girls to complete their secondary education. Every year of education for girls improves their health outcomes and empowers them economically and socially. Donate here.
