International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples 9 August

This year’s theme is Indigenous People’s Right to Education. GWI supports education as a way to preserve the knowledge and cultures of indigenous people.  Literacy is a prerequisite to understanding human rights such as land rights. Education for groups who may be vulnerable or marginalised needs to be conducted in a sensitive and holistic manner. GWI details how such an approach can be done in the GWI manifesto for Non-Traditional Education. For more information on the Day, please follow this link.
